Meet Allison

Allison Rowe has been a distinguished leader in family law for over 26 years, practising exclusively in family law since 1999.  Born in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast in Queensland, and raised in Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast Hinterland, Allison and her family relocated to Melbourne, Victoria during her late primary school years.   Allison completed her secondary schooling and VCE in Ringwood, Victoria and went on to achieve her dual Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) degree and Bachelor of Arts degree at Monash University, Clayton.  During her university years, Allison completed clerkships in Lismore and Lennox Head in northern New South Wales, and in Geelong, Victoria.   Admitted to legal practice in 1998, Allison began her legal career in Geelong, first at a private law firm, then at the community legal centre and Legal Aid.

In 2003, Allison established her boutique family law practice in Geelong, Rowe Lawyers. The practice quickly grew, becoming Cahill and Rowe Family Law in 2007 when Allison was joined by a business partner.   In 2023, the Cahill and Rowe Family Law partnership came to an end and Allison Rowe Family Lawyers was born!   Allison now continues to provide her expert family law advice and support to clients across Geelong, including Geelong West, Ocean Grove, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine Peninsula, and has expanded her services across Victoria and Australia, including Melbourne and surrounding suburbs, Shepparton, Ballarat, Warrnambool and other regional areas, as well as Queensland, Tasmania, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Allison brings deep expertise and experience in parenting and property matters, and a lived understanding of family separation, including with young infants, blended families and family violence.  She is especially confident and highly regarded in handling sensitive and high-conflict parenting matters where there are family violence concerns, as well complex property settlements, including commercial businesses, agribusiness and mining assets. Using her strategic and meticulous approach, Allison expertly manages challenges such as intricate ownership structures (trusts, corporate entities, self-managed super funds), valuation difficulties (farmland, equipment, mineral and water rights), future-needs assessments under the Family Law Act, and binding financial and prenuptial agreements.

Regularly recognised by peers and clients as a top family lawyer in Victoria, Allison’s ability to guide clients through high-asset, high-stakes scenarios makes her incredibly sought after.

Clients of Allison can expect her to:

  • Thoroughly assess and articulate the full scope of parenting matters, property matters, including farms, mining rights, trusts and superannuation

  • Develop clear, client-centred strategies that respect both legal standards and emotional needs

  • Negotiate and advocate with confidence, precision, and compassion
